Therapy starts with the question of who you actually are - beneath the emotional exhaustion and overwhelm.
Amanda Hudes works with women adjusting to experiences in which long-standing patterns are no longer sustainable. Major life transitions. Strained relationships. The growing sense that something needs to shift but isn't yet clear. Her work is rooted in curiosity - not the clinical kind, but the human kind. The willingness to slow down with a client and ask the questions that haven't yet been asked.
What Amanda creates in session is space. Space to think out loud without performance or fear of judgment. Space to examine the assumptions that have been driving the choices. Space to find out what you actually want - which often looks different than what you've been pursuing or allowing.
Each conversation is shaped around where the client actually is, not where a treatment manual says she should be. Some weeks that means structure and reflection. Other weeks it means sitting with what's hard until there’s clarity. Most of the time it means both.
Over time, this work tends to produce something specific: a steadier relationship with yourself. Not the absence of difficulty, but the ability to meet difficulty with more clarity, more honesty, and more trust in your own instincts and decision-making.
Amanda is a Clinical Intern at purepsych, completing her master's degree in counseling at Seton Hall University under licensed clinical supervision. She is also a Behavior Change Specialist and certified Health Counselor, with training in both behavioral and reflective approaches.
