About the Internship
The purepsych Outreach Internship offers undergraduate students an opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of a focused outreach initiative supporting individuals affected by relational trauma and high-conflict relationship dynamics.
This internship is designed for students interested in the intersection of public health, psychology, trauma-informed care, and practical resource development. The intern will work closely with the on-site supervisor to help organize materials, support outreach planning, and produce meaningful deliverables that contribute to the continuity of the initiative.
The role is best suited for a student who is thoughtful, organized, a strong writer, and comfortable engaging with sensitive subject matter in a professional and trauma-informed manner.
Scope of the Initiative
The outreach initiative integrates public health best practices, nutrition and health education, and resource navigation for underserved populations.
The initiative focuses on supporting individuals experiencing long-term trauma, including survivors of domestic violence, narcissistic abuse, and post-separation abuse, as well as those navigating relational challenges such as toxic friendships and concerns related to body image.
The intern will support this work by helping to create, organize, refine, and document outreach materials and program resources under supervision.
What You’ll Be Doing
The intern will support the program through a combination of writing, coordination, organization, and project execution.
- Attend weekly check-ins with the on-site supervisor and provide progress updates
- Draft and refine program materials, resource guides, and process documents
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders, including host staff, partners, and where appropriate, community-facing points of contact
- Maintain organized documentation of outreach activities, materials, and evaluation outputs
- Produce a final portfolio of deliverables suitable for program reporting and continuity
Qualifications
Ideal applicants will demonstrate the following:
- Current undergraduate student with interest in public health and psychology
- Strong writing and synthesis skills, including the ability to translate research into practical resources
- Professionalism and comfort working with sensitive topics
- Commitment to confidentiality and trauma-informed principles
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Ability to work independently with supervisor guidance

Supervision
The internship is supervised by Bryan M. Niederman, PhD, CCTP-II, ADHD-CCSP, who will provide structure, oversight, feedback, and weekly check-ins throughout the internship period.
The intern will work within a defined scope of work and receive guidance in executing responsibilities professionally, thoughtfully, and efficiently.
